Will I be in pain when I get dental implants?
As a prosthodontist, this question is quite common from patients who have a fear of getting a dental implant. In all honesty, if you’re receiving a dental implant in a site that has already been healed, then the process isn’t really painful.
For most of our patients, taking just one pain pill that evening usually does the trick and the following day they feel much better! Another way to decrease pain is to place a bag of ice on the side where you received your dental implant, to reduce inflammation and swelling.
Will a dental implant affect my day-to-day life?
The first week after your dental implant procedure, you may feel a bit of soreness or tenderness around the surgical area. But this shouldn’t affect your schedule of work as long as you don’t have a strenuous job.
Usually, the bone grafting process associated with your dental implant treatment is more apt to be painful. But for every individual, every case is unique. That is why our implantologist will talk to you about what to expect during and after the procedure.
